Jephthah and the Eternal Dance

Adia I thought that we could make it
But I know I cant change the way you feel
I leave you with your misery
A friend who wont betray
I pull you from your tower
I take away your pain
And show you all the beauty you possess
If youd only let yourself believe that
We are born innocent
Believe me adia, we are still innocent

Judges 11:34
And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter
came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances....

--[The Eternal Dance/ Cursed Timbrel - The thoughts of Jephthah as he stands over his daughter's grave]---Dedicated to Sarah McLaughlin "Adia"--------

boom

cling

boom

They are the sounds that can haunt
and chase a man till the end of his life.
you try to let them go
and bury them in your subconscious
but they always resurface
the echo unable to be quieted
even as the years pass

when the sun sets and night opens its
morose eyes so black, pupils of onyx,
casting its portentous spirit upon
us...we imitate death,
that deep sleep from whence
none can escape
none return

honey, it is there that I see you
(without your headdress)
your hair tossed left and right
dancing so vibrantly - your teeth white, glowing, sparkling
your eyes so full of hope
and expectancy
that timbrel in your hand
the music in your disposition

I remember when we first
gave it to you,
how enamored of it you were;
you were such a strong little girl
quite stubborn*
Nothing, not even
A sea of blood from an enemy
most despised could not persuade
you to depart with it
Nor could a father's words, unwise and so foolish...

Now these sounds that constantly elated you in life
constantly plague me (even after your death)
It is only now that I wish we never bestowed it
It is only now I wish I never allowed you to dance
It is only now I wish
we had stopped you.....
before it was too late.
But after mourning much and a thousand tears
You still play,
You still dance.

(Im so sorry)

Judges 11:30-31
And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.

Judges 11:38
And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.

---Adia lyrics ----
Adia I do believe I failed you
Adia I know I let you down
Dont you know I tried so hard
To love you in my way
Its easy let it go...
Adia Im empty since you left me
Trying to find a way to carry on
I search myself and everyone
To see where we went wrong
cause theres no one left to finger
Theres no one here to blame
Theres no one left to talk to, honey
And there aint no one to buy our innocence
cause we are born innocent
Believe me adia, we are still innocent
Its easy, we all falter
Does it matter?
Adia I thought that we could make it
But I know I cant change the way you feel
I leave you with your misery
A friend who wont betray
I pull you from your tower
I take away your pain
And show you all the beauty you possess
If youd only let yourself believe that
We are born innocent
Believe me adia, we are still innocent
Its easy, we all falter, does it matter?
Believe me adia, we are still innocent
cause we are born innocent
Adia we are still innocent
Its easy, we all falter ... but does it matter?
