EYES GLUED SHUT (Deep In Yo Cupz)

[The setting: The Last Supper Meal with Jesus and his disciples in a large upper room of a Jewish house. In the center of the room is a large rectangular wooden table raised just about two feet above the ground and interspersed with three candles between the main entrees served. Silver cups of wine and wooden plates of lamb, herbs, bread, etc are set before each guest. A window on the east wall provides access to setting sunlight, which when interacting with the the light from the candles, provides a sacred two toned luminescent hue with orange and yellow glow refracting off the walls and table. The west wall is decorated with various frescos and has a cabinet and a few chairs set against it. Jesus sits in the center of the table in front of the window pouring wine from a glass bottle into each cup of his disciples. Tony and Trey Songz sit on the chairs against the west wall.]

------------------/ Closing Our Eyes Together; Jesus's Thoughts As He Raises The Cup Of His Blood In The Air (The Last Time)

The last glimmers of sunlight in a room uneasy afraid of the unknown
melancholy morphs into nostalgia greeting death with courage
accompanied by my only friends. What shall we say
about this night
Its distinctness
That its not like the ecstasy of walking on water or the madness
of driving out morally callous from sacred places censuring commerce
in the temple braiding cords or exorcising demon into sheep startled
at their wisdom of choosing death rather than torment nor is it
the thrill tinged with comfort at raising a daughter from the dead
the ruddiness in her cheeks later her mom twirling her hair.
These are the last moments of mirth before misery mars this accord
forever
wistful wonder at the path of innocence we embarked on together
fishing in boats of their fathers, or naively collecting taxes unaffected
at the injustice marveling at our fresh faces then...before John the Baptist
died raising awareness of higher stakes that righteousness is perilousness
attended by steep costs.
The parting words of my father "Jesus, stay the course." A heart
partially turned uncaring this life is the wife I will never have this love
is sexless and childless. Nicodemus bound by indenture servitude
to both sadness and joy, emptiness and hope. As a boy
I somewhat admired the Pharisees. seething and scolding now the
Sadducees scathe
my every word sinisterly and what will become of these children
I leave, sure to scatter in my wake. If only we could perpetuate jubilant
moments frozen in time the wedding feast at Cana or jovial feasting
at Zacchaeus' lounging with Lazarus, Martha, Mary always.
I close my eyes one last time embracing youth
these memories as bread my thirty three years as wine
memorial to happiness remembrance of the past

.......wishing we never had to grow old

(Praying for perseverance into the New Future)

-----Mark 14:22-25
And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
