+-------"The Chronicles Of A Rabbi Baptized; The Thoughts Of Crispus After He and Gaius
Were Baptized By Paul"
It can happen, one day you
stand in the synagogue as a luminary,
angel arms raised with the glory
of a clutched a horn ready to blow more
pestilence onto Egypt, a Mosaic
scholar on the verge of veiling his face
for all the accrued societal honor, Mount
Sinai as your home, your neighbors
waiting at the base in reverence, lost
sheep shedding wool without you- then
you wake up the next day and hate it.
You throw down the stone tablet mores
you used to love because no one around
you "gets it." One day you and Gaius
seek carp in the market, the next he
meets someone telling you to fish for
men rather. Maybe it’s something in the
water…plunging in as two respected
Jewish men, arising drenched and
delirious-You become heralds of a Way
of life you never could have dreamed of.
-----1 Corinthians 1:11-16
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
