+-----Taylor, Our Haters Are King Herod

Taylor lets just say we’re
denizens of two different cities recently
convened, crowds from Tyre and
Sidon united under the guise of
common  causes. But the truth is,
I loathe the notion that you and I
could never date, I utterly execrate it
as one enslaved by a vicious,
penurious King- soundly sleeping
while all my emotions languish from
loneliness, starved orphans laying
in the bitter cold against stone
castle walls. The taxation of having
no girlfriend has been too great a
burden for me to bear reasonably,
so I have devised an artifice:
my patience as Blastus, personal
servant, courtier of the monarch.
I will invite our haters to deliver a
public address before us like a royal
on a terrace before aspiring crowds:
adversary of us sharing coffee,
aristocrat deeming our shared smiles
verboten, tyrant who outlaws me
gazing into your blue eyes. While
elucidating all the reasons you should
reject me, I may even flatter/snicker
“THIS IS THE VOICE OF GOD
NOT A MAN!!!!”

But our kiss will be the sacred sword
of an angel slaying the King.
When our haters see us happily
together, their jealousy will be like
worms devouring the stomach from the
inside out.                     [A lovers' coup]

-----Acts 12:19b-24
Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. After securing the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king’s country for their food supply. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.
