+------Marked For Death; Jesus' Last Thoughts On The Cross After Drinking Vinegar And Wine

Raucous jeers, profane
protests from the crowd
muffled now; overcome by white
noise. My vision hazy, blood-blurred,
the criminals on my right,
left indistinct, amorphous.
I can hear rumbling of
subterranean earth, the ground
splitting, Hades rising, clangor
of precious metals precursory,
then thunderous footsteps
approaching. The pitter-patter
of feet, the cacophonous
barking of three dog-heads one
body, Cerberus, his portal’s guardian.
Clenching my neck, he stands
eye to eye – “Hades isn’t a place,
it’s a person….” My breath flees
my body in terror.....I'm convulsing.
Father why have you forsaken me?

As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
