Jesus is Dead....He's Dead
Luke 23:54-56 [It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.]
-----Black Sabbath------------ The Thoughts Of Mary Magdalene Upon Preparing Spices For The Body Of Jesus
You imagine for yourself
two lives;
One kneeling before a resplendent King
radiant on His Throne
a Savior with a strong Arm, mighty
palms at His feet, cheering throngs beyond His chambers
and you reminisce on all the people healed
and demons expelled
and people fed
and you weep (while smiling)
with the exuberance of Lazarus
loved, forgiven
forever more
The other: disenchanted
standing adjacent to a body in linen wrapped
trapped behind an irreverent stone
a man full of dreams
teeming with potential killed for
misunderstandings
and cynicism peppers your mind and
everything you thought you saw
and the sanity of those who say
"he walked on water like dry land"
You muse to yourself
what natural circumstances calm winds
at a mere carpenter’s beck and call?
(from Nazareth, none the less)
Confusion, fear, sadness anger,
pity, remorse
if your King died tonight
youd better meticulously prepare the best spices
(like you never have before)
to stave off unseemly stench
you make sure the aroma of his body
is as sweet as his memory
as majestic as his love, for you
for Israel
Luke 24:1-3 [Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.]
