Weeding Injustice

#FeastoftheImmaculateConception

+----"Weeding Injustice"; Mary's Thoughts Before Proclaiming To The Angel Gabriel: "Let It Be Done To Me According To Your Word"

I don’t use candles anymore,
flickering bedside prophets that
dispense warmth, their faint whispers
rising in white smoke would
apprise me of an epically approaching
fait accompli, which brought
great comfort. Also, the fire’s
luminosity stirred up vivid dreams,
sleep fantasies
about the dissolution of Rome-
Caesar’s fatal fall from his manic
horse, mass mutiny then the
reestablishment of Jerusalem
sovereignty under David. I swear,
in my excitement, I would wake
in ecstatic sweats with
charred tresses. But now I will forsake
wick and wax, forever snuff out
man-made flames. For the Promise
spoken me, that the Son of God
will spring from my Blessed Womb,
emanates so brightly from
my heart that even in pitch black
everything is aglow, all things
clothed radiantly in white: I know
now the emperor’s throne
has finally cracked and and split,
that wickedness in this world is
fleeing
to pave the way for justice.

---------------------Luke 1:34-38
How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Sheep and Stars

+-----Sheep and Stars; The Thoughts Of David While Holding Goliath’s Head, Seconds Before The Raucous Cheering Of Israel’s Army

I remember now those slingshot
dreams beneath the moon shivering
in the coldest air,
winter’s cruel acrimony against
shepherd’s skin, lying supine pressing
myself against a tightly fit flock of
sleeping sheep, my head on warm wool
hurling rocks at heaven
trying to intercept the path of a
shooting star. “These are brothers,
these are sisters” I assessed
at the time. There was no hesitation
of conflict, no courage crisis when
the lion advanced against us,
dried blood on the mane, or the
bear of brawn brandished fangs to
put me in flight, I grabbed leather.
I pulled from my pouch the sharpened
stones. The rule of the fold,
in the capricious wilderness
where future Kings are culled to reign,
has always been, simply:
"God protects me, I protect the flock."
So I have already sworn my love
to Israel, that it will forever stand…
no matter how tall and imposing
the Philistine, or how heavy
his massive and putrid head.

---------------------1 Samuel 17:32-49
David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.” Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.” Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head.  David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine. Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!” David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

+-----Memoirs Of A Gittite Refugee; The Thoughts Of Ittai While Fleeing Absalom

My life before I met you,
I don’t quite remember it…
the days just blended together,
a sort of malaise of extended time.
Ever since, the godly example of love
you set, the kind care for your people
continue to stir the goodly soul.
Now in my house even paying taxes
is part pure and part sacred,
a ritual of ascendancy,
copper is christened as official tender of
loyal subjects, and when
dropped from oily hands into silver tins
of the treasury, cues from
loud coin clinks translate serfs to courtiers.
So forevermore no matter the cost,
you are King. We'll render homage
in peace or beneath flaming arrows
skulking, in temples of opulence
or knee deep in fields of blood where
they buried the severed
head of Goliath. Where else shall we turn?
No other nation confers dignity on exiles,
food and shelter for the refugee,
the moral code of human revolution
spoken secretly between gods and
angels revealed. Friend,
wherever you go I go, and if you die,
I swear to you we die together.

----2 Samuel 15:13-21
A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.” Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” The king’s officials answered him, “Your servants are ready to do whatever our lord the king chooses.” The king set out, with his entire household following him; but he left ten concubines to take care of the palace. So the king set out, with all the people following him, and they halted at the edge of the city. All his men marched past him, along with all the Kerethites and Pelethites; and all the six hundred Gittites who had accompanied him from Gath marched before the king. The king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you come along with us? Go back and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner, an exile from your homeland. You came only yesterday. And today shall I make you wander about with us, when I do not know where I am going? Go back, and take your people with you. May the Lord show you kindness and faithfulness.” But Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.”

----Boiled Frogs Lyrics
"Boiled Frogs"

[George:] A man sits at his desk
One year from retirement,
And he's up for review
Not quite sure what to do.
Each passing year
The workload grows.

[Dallas:] I'm always wishing, I'm always wishing too late
For things to go my way
It always ends up the same
(Count your blessings)
I must be missing, I must be missing the point
Your signal fades away and all I'm left with is noise
(Count your blessings on one hand)

So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight.
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life

[George:] Poor little tin man, still swinging his axe,
Even though his joints are clogged with rust.

[Wade:] My youth is slipping, my youth is slipping away.
Safe in monotony, (so safe), day after day
(Count your blessings)
My youth is slipping, my youth is slipping away.
Cold wind blows off the lake, and I know for sure that it's too late
(Count your blessings on one hand)

[Dallas:] So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life.

Can't help but feel betrayed, punch the clock every single day
There's no loyalty and no remorse.
Youth sold for a pension cheque
And it makes him f* sick
He's heating up, he can't say no

(Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh)

So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight,
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life.
(So wait up)
So wait up I'm not sleeping alone again tonight
Between the light and shallow waves is where I'm going to die
Wait up for me
Wait up for me
Wait up for me

How I Wish I Met Whitney

* Jesus pray for me
* Matthew pray for me
* Dedicated to Whitney. I wish you peace, joy and a prodigious womb in your next life…as a wife and mother. Too bad I was too cowardly to tell you how I really felt about you when I had the chance….

+-----How I Wish I Met Whitney

Whitney I always re-imagine you
wistfully adrift, gazing dreamily at
opposite shores on a gentle ripple
of a morning wave,
wide net of opportunity
held slack in your hands
after days of patient
anticipation of a greater fate.
The dark silhouettes of trees
of uncertainty reflect back
in your eyes, branches
of Galilee dancing but obscured
by dense white mist, bark-sway
of mystery and intrigue. And then,
deep within a lover’s inland
I would approach you
filled with umbrage for your oar,
disdain for the boat that perpetuated
your unfulfilled longings. “Come
follow me" I would say, let me take
you from all you think you know
and make you my wife. Together,
we will save the world by
making all things new.

----Matthew 4:18-20
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

My Love Prophet #TaylorDateTony

* Jesus pray for me
* Elisha pray for me
* Dedicated to #TaylorDateTony

+-----My Love Prophet

Taylor, the battles I wage for love
fiercely rage on. Intractable loneliness
always rises up contrary to
all my romantic notions-
the King of Aram in smirched glory,
snaggle teeth stained brownish-
yellow, breath most odious.
Alas presently, I am besieged by despair.
His chariots encircle my
dreams. Driven by outlandishly insipid
girls, those ones who repeatedly reject my
dating invitations, bumbling warriors
with tattered leather skin armor
(shoulder plates corroded), their charm
oxidized daggers, rusted and
only brandished for display, they bark out
nightly: “TONY YOU WILL ALWAYS
BE UNWANTED!”  The horses they ride
are sickly. Oh Taylor, wont you encamp
in Dothan (my heart), and stir up hope
and faith in the midst of these trials
with a soft kiss, your two blue eyes
like angels in the vanguard
of a formidable lovers’ army  come to
my defense; In their hands,
bellicose torches, flames indignant to
despair, sitting astride war stallions
set to destroy all that stands averse
to you and I sharing a cup of coffee?
Show the world that on a date with you,
I'm much more than the wicked
lovelorn forces that surround me.

---2 Kings 6:8-17
Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.” The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places. This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?” “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.” “Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back: “He is in Dothan.” Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Time Un-Fossilized

* Jesus pray for me
* Lazarus pray for me
* John pray for me

+-----Time Un-Fossilized; The Thoughts Of Lazarus In The Grave

It was heartbreak that did me in.
It was, ultimately, the rabid incision of
manifold bad philosophical rudiments
of a cruel world infecting lifeblood,
too much for any vein or
vessel of my self-administered pep talk to
withstand, so my soul, spastic,
surrendered. I imagine my epitaph:
HEREIN LIES A FAILED MAN
EULOGIZED BY ROTTING SKIN,
his spirit cum foul stench saturating
boulders. I remember my final bedside
faltering flanked by my sisters,
the petrification of kin,
the specter of their future pranks
dissipating into eye ether, discarding bone
and putrefied body for other worlds.
These friends of a miracle working
Savior abandoned to mourn alone. And the
memories, Bethany-laden, seem like
years ago. But for some reason
now I can detect faint whispers of
second chances. Something like the calm
of redemption rising within and
animating sinews. So I think maybe
Ive been sleeping in this sad grave
too long. If there's someone on
the otherside that wont quit on lost souls,
then life is truly worth living. While there's
time still, please ROLL.AWAY.THE.STONE.

---John 11:38-44
Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

Blank Space #TaylorDateTony

* Jesus pray for me
* Dedicated to #TaylorDateTony

+-----Blank Space

Taylor what is the primordial
language of love
that God speaks to themselves,
the effervescing desire for romance
over baneful waves rippling
in nothingness? I wish to talk like this
to you, passionate heart palpitations
in a lover’s void, my spirited
breathing a divine wind moving over
the face of waters of longing.
A kiss from your lips
would be a thunderous utterance
of universal harmony declaring
"let there be light" in my lonely
inchoate dark. Joy illuminating gloom.
I try to imagine you
dating me, us clasping hands
over coffee. This would be
the inception of our earth bound forms,
skin touching skin,
the creation of a couple from
deep yearning ex nihilo. I swear,
the aroma of a café would
be the impetus for us to fill
Heaven and Earth, disregarding risk,
the bonds of a trinity that does not die.

----Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light
