The Emo Bible: Amos Chapter 6

* Jesus pray for me
* Amos, pray for me

+-----The Emo Bible: Amos Chapter 6

The sky has spoken, in
a downpour of ash rather than rain,
at night the strident thunderclap of
demons displacing soft
lulling winds/wings of the cherubs. It admonishes,
it chides in star-speak from black holes,
the harshest of terms. Proclaiming to us
the judgement of God:
to carry a guilt laden conscience
as a coffin washed in tears,
like brittle bones of ten men dearly
cherished out of an empty house. To plod
towards Virtue in solemn procession
as to a demigod, its raging retributive
fires uneasily quelled,
appeasing its vehement demands
for eternal vivification, charging
that purging pyres of the damned beneath
it be restocked continuously. And this ‘till
we reckon with fate and repent
in isolation
like those forsaken,
black Eden, Adam and Eve ducking
to evade the sweeping swing
of the angel’s sword that burns,
oscillating leaves from the Tree of Life
shouting from behind (“Is there yet any
with thee?”). They, like our neighbors aghast
ask
if any others bear this same curse of
sudden mortality, concerned
that we have none to comfort us.
“Shhhhh!!!,” “No” we say, “and
please don’t
attempt to console us,”
for we will never again mention
God’s Name.
(Lunar eclipse of the hopeless.)

----Amos 6:9-10
And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die. And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the Lord.
