------------------[Jennifer Love Hewitt, Your Love Keeps My Feet From Swelling]

My loneliness is a group of Israelites screaming
because it hurts me to be without you;
like flayed flesh and whip worn backs

But the thought of us together led me out of my captivity
your beauty is an unquenchable burning bush
with leaves that never wither commissioning a shepherd
to lead my hopes through a tempestuous sea of adversity
chased by the Egyptian army of my occasional pessimistic predilections
(honestly I think you too good for me)
peacefully as though through dry land
en route to matrimony; the land I promised myself was mine
if I just endured in my faith in you
(in us)

because your beneficence, and your grace
is like a panorama of miracles unfurling
is a cloud of flames dispelling my darkest thoughts
(that you would hate me if you really knew me)
is manna (angel's food) descending daily from the Summit of romance
satiating my hunger for loveliness
is water hewn from a massive rock
quenching my passionate thirst for a worthy object of desire
and I would walk 40 years if it took that long
yet I know even then your kindness would preserve my garments
(my confidence)
and protect my feet from swelling

Jennifer, your absence feels like a father chastening his son
but I know deep inside you are with me through my journey
and that eventually patience will bring our love to bear

-----------------------Deuteronomy 8:1-5
"Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers. And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.
