Dos Equis With The Devil On the Mount #IHadABeerWithSatan

* Jesus pray for me
* Matthew pray for me
#IhadabeerwithSatan (Part 7)

[The setting: The summit of the highest mountain, overlooking the vast expanse of all the world’s kingdoms. Wild beasts lurch between shrubs and snarl at Tony as Satan dialogues with Tony. Tony and Satan share a 6 pack of Dos Equis beer.]

+----Dos Equis With The Devil (On The Mount)

[Satan swills his beer]
Tony stand beside me and
peer down, we can see all things
atop this mountain. Behold,
in homes, flames of animosity’s
spirit raging within human hearts
that rival their hearths,
men and women who pine away
for the Death God to perish,
for a religion of authentic living to rise
from seething soot and ashes
of their desire deferred for too long.
You see, my friend, no one
willingly erects an ascetic altar.
Nebuchadnezzar dictating a hedonistic
consciousness from the grave,
the swords the spears, the torches.
(A rational mind always wars against temples
of frivolity.) And see, these are the coveted
Kingdoms that rise behind these disaffected
peoples’ dissimulation before an oppressive
God/morality fabricated by fools; The secret
subversive
empires of the purest pleasures- masturbation
not meditation, drunken revelry not sobriety,
prostitution and strip clubs not abstinence,
drugs of euphoric experience as "civic duty".
And all of this can be yours…the glitz,
the pageantry, if you bow before me indulgent.
Beers in hand, we’ll drink ourselves to stupor
as we watch Yahweh’s world burn.

-----------------Matthew 4:1-11
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
