[the setting: Suburban woods, cool night - a lone patch of grass on a hillside, an oasis of grass among a sea of trees and other shrubbery and dense foliage lit by a beam of luminescent light from the moon. Embalm

* Dedicated to J*ne, J**n....awww heck - dedicated to all the girls I've ever wanted to marry!

*Dedicated to Taylor Swift "Love Story"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xg3vE8Ie_E

--------------------/Embalm

You and me together is my wildest fantasy
when I picture us together its like rousing out of a deep
exhaustive
sleep, partially in a dream state and I hear the ambient noises
of people chattering in a distance, their words indistinct
Im in my room, the door slightly ajar. flickering light creeps in
then suddenly Im transported to a steep mountain ridge overlooking
turbulent seas
cold gusty night
crashing obstreperous waves
holding your hand gazing into your eyes then into the waters
as storm clouds hasten and form over our heads
pouring down rain, drenching us
wet together
Then I snap awake
people around me are screaming fire in the house
imploring me to go
but I force myself back to sleep
just to see your face again
stinging, caustic suffocating black smoke endured
just to see your face again
J*ne, listen to me
let me love you until this world burns
you and I can stay together though the skies
portend destruction and we are one slip away from defeat
(no one wants us in love, and you have your doubts)
even if six other men let you down, and you yearn for true reckoning
don’t fret and plunge
I will be the seventh fragment that pieced together
unlocks and sets your heart free....
and we will stand together
cold and shivering waiting to perish interlocked in embrace;
the remaining time we have wanes
so love me fully
caress my face fully
ephemeral affection, deteriorating kisses, fading hugs
(with everlasting strength)
and when everything is drawn to a close
burned in fires of Judicious Transition
embalm these words as a seal upon your heart
because in the end: in the resurrection
we'll be like angels forsaking these memories
forgetting whats behind us
waking up eternally to true consciousness never turning back
releasing our romance -
never to dream again

------------------------------------
Luke 20:27-40
There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. And the second and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. Afterward the woman also died. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife." And Jesus said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him." Then some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well." For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

-Love Story lyrics
We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes, and the flashback starts,
I'm standing there,
On the balcony in summer air.

I see the lights, see the party, the ballgowns.
See you make your way through the crowd,
And say, "Hello",
Little did I know,

That you were Romeo,
You were throwing pebbles,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
And I was crying on the staircase,
Begging you, "Please don't go".

And I said,
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run.
You be the prince, and I'll be the princess,
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'yes'."

So I sneak out to the garden to see you,
We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if he knew,
So close your eyes,
Escape this town for a little while.

'Cause you were Romeo,
I was a scarlet letter,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
But you were everything to me,
Begging you, "Please don't go".

And I said,
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run.
You be the prince, and I'll be the princess,
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'yes'."

"Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel.
This love is difficult, but it's real.
Don't be afraid, we'll make it of this mess,
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'yes'."

Well, I got tired of waiting,
Wondering if you were ever coming around.
My faith in you was fading,
When I met you on the outskirts of town.

And I said,
"Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone.
I keep waiting for you, but you never come.
Is this in my head,
I don't know what to think,"

You knelt to the ground,
And pulled out a ring and said,
"Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone.
I love you, and that's all I really know.
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress,
It's a love story, baby just say yes."

We were both young when I first saw you....

Shriveled Hands

No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God

-----------------------------/Shriveled Quivering Hands On the Plow: Jesus' Thoughts On His Command Of Discipleship

Mortal man puts on airs
with pretenses of importance, feigning superiority
haughty in the presence of the angel of death
turning up his nose
a misguided temporal being with fleeting existence naïve
to the fact that finitude is his robe of weakness
and dying the ultimate humiliating defeat, proof of ineptitude
wretched rags of feebleness embroidered with pain
his last moments are a quivering moue
decaying body placed in the grave, the epitaph:
sorrow was his joy, read somberly by his surviving kin
destined for the same fate
while the angels in heaven celebrate regularly
in their blitheness
contrasting his pitiable state with the true strength of immortality
and the glorious splendor of the cape of everlasting life
billowing in the winds of eternal timelessness
banishing Death down the River Styx
laughing at Hades
impervious to pain, bedecked with fanciful jewels of
ceaseless existing, preparing for any who come
exquisite victorious vestments
reserved for those who obey, disciples enduring to the end

and this age is abrupt
the plow of service to God meant for quick and efficient use
not for nonchalance
not for picking up and placing back down leisurely
or long lulls of inactivity while other pursuits are entertained
(arrogantly deemed more important)
the field is ripe, the harvest ready for the youthful in heart
(sons of blessed inheritance full of vigor, always alive)
because when the crop is collected time will suddenly halt
the threshing floor barren
and with it the piercing conviction of
obligations left behind
but by then man's hands will be old and withered
quivering as he futilely attempts to push the plow forward
falling limp as his heart seizes his actions
into dire defeat
trying not to look back
(on all his ephemeral mistakes)

[Master P]: Yo Tony, why you stealing my shine, son? Why you biting?

"Come"

----------------------/"Come":The Thoughts Of Peter Before Walking Toward Jesus

These are the best of times and yet
these are the worst of times
and its not just because you feel hamstrung wedged
between eleven other men
half prating endlessly about ghosts, the rest staring cautiously at the sea
unsettled because they don't know exactly what to do next
but its because you've begun to witness with regularity
miracle after miracle and metaphysical abstractions
translate into palpable routine pragmatic action
among peasant peoples – not kings and Roman Caesars;
sullen disheveled famished crowds somehow become
five thousand sanguine and hardy, merry and ceremonious
dancing men (with their wives and children)
full to their stomachs
without so much as a simple willing of effort, an insouciant
flick of the wrist
(or just the mere directive "take up your mat and walk" to
a chronically paralyzed man)
intimating that all of this phenomena is pretty much up for grabs
facile even
plausibly able to be mastered without magnificent complication
like everyone always presumes....or so it seems
but because the fault lies with you
and your tentativeness about conquering fears
and walking on the waves of the impossible
that as a child you were always taught to aspire to:
to dream
to grasp at the latch of difficulties to open the gate of opportunity
and walk through
you know you've always wanted this for yourself
to be the man that loved victory and disdained defeat
and because for the first time in your life
you have the very real chance to be this man you've always imagined
you could be (and your wife and your mom and dad)
and actualize every iota of latent potential
residing in your soul
the most wonderful moments lie just ahead
just outside this boat
the only problem is the convincing
the belief
(that there are no such things as limitations)
that you won't sink

---------------Matthew 14:22-33
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God."

Jeremiah: A True Celebration

Yo kid, lets all take a moment and pause for reflection on the life of my man Jeremiah the prophet aiiight? This dude done gave his life for the spreading of God's immaculate words, nah mean? Lets give this dude the props he deserve for real for real! Like the dude Eminmen said son:

IM NOT AFRAID, IM NOT AFRAAAAAID TO TAKE A STAND, TO TAKE A STAND, EVERYBODY, EVERYBODY COME TAKE MY HAAAND!!!!!

Jeremiah 20:7-18 (NIV)

You deceived me, LORD, and I was
deceived;
you overpowered me and prevailed.
I am ridiculed all day long;
everyone mocks me.
8 Whenever I speak, I cry out
proclaiming violence and destruction.
So the word of the LORD has brought me
insult and reproach all day long.
9 But if I say, “I will not mention his word
or speak anymore in his name,”
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.
10 I hear many whispering,
"Terror on every side!
Denounce him! Let's denounce him!"
All my friends
are waiting for me to slip, saying,
"Perhaps he will be deceived;
then we will prevail over him
and take our revenge on him."
11 But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior;
so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.
They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;
their dishonor will never be forgotten.
12 LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous
and probe the heart and mind,
let me see your vengeance on them,
for to you I have committed my cause.

13 Sing to the LORD!
Give praise to the LORD!
He rescues the life of the needy
from the hands of the wicked.

14 Cursed be the day I was born!
May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!
15 Cursed be the man who brought my father the news,
who made him very glad, saying,
"A child is born to you—a son!"
16 May that man be like the towns
the LORD overthrew without pity.
May he hear wailing in the morning,
a battle cry at noon.
17 For he did not kill me in the womb,
with my mother as my grave,
her womb enlarged forever.
18 Why did I ever come out of the womb
to see trouble and sorrow
and to end my days in shame?

A Land Forever Lost (To Me)

*dedicated to Saint Jeremiah, a true man of God. Rest in Peace, homie, but for real I know youz up in Heaven with God and the community of Saints, so watch over me and this poem, son. I salute you son, the quintessential fallen prophetic soldier!

/////They also led away all those whom Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan—the men, the women, the children and the king’s daughters. And they took Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch son of Neriah along with them. So they entered Egypt in disobedience to the LORD and went as far as Tahpanhes. – (Jeremiah 43:6-7)////////

--------------------/A Land Forever Lost (To Me); Jeremiah's Last Thoughts Upon Leaving For Egypt

Sentimentality is the worst of all the emotions
because it binds you to a time and to a space you
cant completely detach yourself from
or subliminally recurring dreams
sometimes waking fully conscious memories
of vividly green pastures and gentle sheep and goats
fawning over you as you fed them
cupping your hands and drinking from cool streams after
a strenuous day of play. getting your hair wet
stealing out the temple early for "sinister" adolescent escapades
cherished Judah, exquisite land - forever
...your pulse is the beating of my heart
despite the stocks, despite Pashhur and the beatings
attempts on my life masterminded by my own brothers,
and the the cistern of Malkijah, my proposed untimely makeshift grave
emblematic of a land falling that was not meant to fall
corrupt but its founding intent was always purity
a land sacrilegious but destined to be sacrosanct
in captivity now but desperately yearning to be free
a metaphor for every Hebrew frail but never weak and always hopeful
and you often wonder why people walk away from good things
inexplicably
why bad people do iniquitous things to good people
(to a Good God)
and on the precipice of victory why some men are determined
to make themselves fail
or why the most ruthless mercenaries we face are often
those plaguing thoughts, those haunting doubts
deep within (us);
so when the owls of Anathoth sing you try to remember
which melody to syncopate and which one to leave
unaltered
as the wind blows you dance your
last dance with the oscillating tree limbs and savor
the smell of Hebrew food one last time
wishing you could just leave indifferent
without the anxiety
and be at peace with decisions made for you
but this is the wrong time, the wrong move
an exodus never planned for
and almost instinctively you know
it's the last move you’ll ever make
in tears

Jeremiah 44:15-19; 24-28
Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, along with all the women who were present—a large assembly—and all the people living in Lower and Upper Egypt, said to Jeremiah, "We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD! We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm. But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.” The women added, "When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?" Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including the women, "Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah in Egypt. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You and your wives have done what you said you would do when you promised, 'We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven.' "Go ahead then, do what you promised! Keep your vows! But hear the word of the LORD, all you Jews living in Egypt: 'I swear by my great name,’ says the LORD, 'that no one from Judah living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name or swear, "As surely as the Sovereign LORD lives." For I am watching over them for harm, not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish by sword and famine until they are all destroyed. Those who escape the sword and return to the land of Judah from Egypt will be very few. Then the whole remnant of Judah who came to live in Egypt will know whose word will stand—mine or theirs.
