+-----Changing; The Thoughts Of John Before Baptizing Jesus

When I was young, coating, mindlessly,
locusts with a veneer of
honey to soothe digestion, I pondered
Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos…the Fates.
Spinning, meting, cutting threads
of destiny with spindle, distaff. The way
assassins fit string to bow in shadows
at night. How much longer for Messiah?
How long until the Hebrews’ revolt
over Caesar’s crass soldiers’ raping
of our women, burning of our homes,
seizing of our land? But now youthful
speculation ends. When I baptize Jesus,
the death of the old order – Behold the
Lamb Of God; Hope, freedom, justice
dancing in Israel. On banks of the Jordan.

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
