+------The Death Of Apollo; Jesus' Words To The Elders In The Temple As A Boy

And every year
en route to Jerusalem,
I eavesdrop
on obsequious squabbles
from Greek, Romans
alike: which boy
amongst many adores
Apollo best. I too once lusted mystic.
A child bucolic coveting Delphi’s
Temple's mystic murmurs of Oracles on
fate, on war with Caesar, on love
…the owl all-seeing blessed with knowing
but cursed to always remember.
But now I teach Truth- That the nexuses
of Spirit, Wisdom, lay with Hebrews
not pagans. For they say Apollo,
“light bearer”, flickers in dark... but our
God spoke light into being. To heal
sin, to fix Pandora’s curse run amok,
He sent me here.        I will save
this world, you all, I swear. One day.

------Luke 2:41-52
Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

+------Covenants; The Thoughts Of Abram  Entranced

At my age, Ive run
from this for some time: fear
of a failed legacy (the fear of
all men), foreboding, debilitating. This
complete darkness like a phantom,
thick and burly, half-raven/half-angel,
cawing. Seizing my neck violently
while I’m asleep with no heir. My
life’s regrets like the slaughtered:
a heifer, goat and a ram
I halved and set apart bloody
for paranoia’s birds of prey.
And now more than ever I need
God. His mercy - a smoking
firepot with hope’s torch ablaze
to pass between the bodies; Honoring
Noah I wont cleave dove or pigeon.
Like him, I have improbable faith
in my cursed world regenerated.

------Genesis 15:4-21
Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[d] be.” Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.” But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?” So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.” Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away. As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. You, however, will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age. In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.” When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”

+------Zion Atop  Galilee's Sea

Zion, your knee injury
weeks ago, like you departing
iconoclastic. Ascending a mountainside
of curses to pray alone. Like your
teammates, coaches, as 12 disciples
huddled together in a boat, nudged from
shores of NCAA-Final-Four-certainty
to drift on basketball’s (Galilee’s) Sea of
Unknowns…Durham’s campus’s
dark-night-grief occluding any hint
of hope’s moon. But 29 points
in your Syracuse return like redress- It
was you walking on the lake (of the
impossible) just before dawn
(of the March Madness tourney) like
Duke’s Savior, stirring fright as a ghost.
And tonight, when you score 50 against
the Bison (and everyone else), like words
of comfort to your team: “Take courage!
It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Come [with
me to the Final Four In Minneapolis]” Like
you extending your hand to Coach K.

------Matthew 14:22-31
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

+------Taylor Swift and Tony Conti's John The Baptist

Taylor, my heart is  Zechariah,
an aged priest of Hebrews
childless (dateless) full of
melancholy. Chosen by lot
to serve in the Temple’s (of
romantic longing) inner
chambers to burn fledgling
bae-hope’s incense on
the altar’s right side. The people
…still under captivity of
cruel-girls’-relationship
-refusals’ Roman Rule.
But babes! Your smile is
an angel from Heavenly Courts
dispatched to me abruptly in
loneliness’ barely-candlelit
darkness to comfort. Your blue
eyes, your lips: gripping, like
wondrous stars of Eden’s first summer
night. If you took me to Starbucks,
kissed me, like the promise of a son.
To prepare the Way prophesied.
For the Messiah; The salvation of us
in Love (to the peoples' rejoicing).

------Luke 1:8-17
Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

+------The Temple's Antechamber Secrets; Zechariah's First Words To The People After The Restoration Of His Speech

Some might brand it
delusion, the thurible-incense’s
opacity as psychedelic; storm
clouds at night blinding the
nighthawk’s lucidity,
obscuring perception. But
I swear…I know, what I saw-
a man radiant as since the
onset of time- an angel,
Edenic, suspended in air
above the altar, his legs
astride tufts of said smoke.
What he conveyed left me bereft
of speech, incredulous: God
sees our oppression, He
hates Caesar too. That my son
must first come (despite my
age), to prepare the way
…for the Messiah…the usurper
prophesied. That King David’s
seed is set to rule the world again.
(That Rome will fall.)

Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
