Goodell’s gridironed earth- 7 plagues
of a grueling NFC East schedule: the afflicting
tension of success/failing, the poor officiating,
the mark of the barbaric beast of concussions,
666. Lockeroom weeping, teeth gnashing. Today
Eli Manning amasses his teammates as
multitudinous as sand on the seashore. Armies
of Gog and Magog waiting to march 1,000
years, spear-tips of eternal scorn before
their eyes: coaches’ playbooks of demonic
fury. Horse-collar tackles, helmet to helmet
hits as swords and shields of fallen angels.
He stares across the Lake of Fire of Loss, Satan
pondering the season finale, Redskins vs Giants,
epic last battle for playoff afterlives- good vs evil.
Victor flings defeated in burning sulfur waves of

When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown.
